Hurricane Laura

St. Landry-Evangeline United Way is experienced when it comes to disasters.  We have proven over time that when there is a need after a disaster, we are there as a leader, a partner or an advocate.  Any donation you give, whether financial or in-kind, you are helping a family get back on their feet, restore and rebuild their homes or communities.  We work with local organizations, businesses and government to create the plans and strategies to build back and to build up the lives that have been impacted by the disaster.

We know that COVID-19 exposed the widespread economic instability of  our state, and that even before the virus, according to the latest United Way ALICE Report, 51% of St. Landry Parish households and 55% of households in Evangeline Parish struggle to make ends meet. Before the virus, half of households in the state could not afford basic household necessities or save for an emergency like a hurricane, lost income or loss of childcare.

Regarding the Hurricane Relief Fund:  All proceeds will support immediate relief efforts and long-term rebuilding and community grants to partner organizations providing direct services to assist with disaster recovery.

Regarding the Evacuee Registration:  Evacuee registration (intake form) will help us determine the number of evacuees staying in our area, the length of time they will be our guests, and the needs they may have. As we are able to fulfill needs, evacuees will be notified.
