St. Landry-Evangeline United Way Supports LSU Tigers for Tuscaloosa!

PRESS RELEASE Opelousas; October 26, 2011 - LSU Tigers for Tuscaloosa encourages Tiger fans and Louisiana residents to donate new clothing items for those residents who were affected by the catastrophic tornadoes that swept Alabama in April. The effort will culminate on November 5th, when the LSU Tigers face the Alabama Crimson Tide at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. A grassroots volunteer effort is coordinating with United Ways across Louisiana to serve as drop-off locations. Temporary Emergency Services in Tuscaloosa, a United Way of West Alabama partner agency, will distribute all donated items. “We are delighted to be part of this state-wide initiative. It really goes to the heart of United Way’s mission. When we say Live United, all rivalries – even friendly rivalries, transform, and we become one community,” stated Ginger LeCompte, Executive Director of the St. Landry-Evangeline United Way. “I know we have lots of LSU fans in our area, so I believe they will come through,” LeCompte added.
